Huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered in Indo-Bhutan border

KOKRAJHAR: Based on specific information from sources, on Tuesday a joint operation was launched by Kokrajhar Police accompanied by SI Swmdwn Hazowary, OC, Serfanguri Police Station, ASI Rajani Kt. Rabha, I/C Bishmuri PP, APRG team with Commando Bn. Staff (Camp: Serfanguri PS ) and Major Vikas Sheoran with 12 Sikh LI Army led by Mukut Rabha, Additional SP (HQ), Kokrajhar in the general area of Laopani Nala and Ultapani Nala along the Indo-Bhutan border. The team could recover a huge cache of arms and ammunition concealed in the jungle.

Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roushan, while talking to media persons, said the joint operation team started search in Laopani and Ultapani Nala area and succeeded in recovering a huge cache of arms and ammunition kept concealed under the ground near a tree at Fire Line 07, Ultapani Reserve Forest under Bishmuri PP.

The joint team recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions that included two AK-56 rifles (1 folded butt and 1 fix butt), one grenade launcher (M-79), one .22 rifle, 11 country-made rifles, one .22 pistol, two 7.65 mm pistol and one 9 mm pistol (Country made) . They also recovered 11 magazines of AK-56 rifle, two magazines of M-16, one magazine of .22 rifle, two magazines of .22 pistol, 10 magazines of 9 mm, 6 magazines of 7.65 mm country made pistol. Besides, they also recovered 19 rounds of ammunitions of 7.62 mm, 212 rounds of AK-56, 88 rounds of 5.56 mm, 41 rounds of 9 mm, 34 rounds of 7.65 mm, 2 rounds of .22 mm, 7 round fired cases, 2 country-made grenades along with one satellite phone, 10 grenades, 6 Chinese-made grenades, 2 country-made grenades, 8 numbers of fuse of No 36 grenade, 34 electric detonators and 2 grenades for M-79.
