Huge quantity of stolen rice under National Food Safety recovered by Tamulpur police

BAKSA: A huge quantity of stolen rice under National Food Safety (NFS) scheme was recovered by Tamulpur police on Friday at Dowamakha village under Gandhibari police outpost in the district of Baksa.

Following secret information, Ashim Bora, Officer in-charge of Tamulpur Police Station, and Manoj Kumar Das, 2nd Officer in-charge of Tamulpur Police Station, launched an operation in the house of Haradhan Sarkar of Dowamakha village and recovered 25 quintals (49 bags) rice of NFS which had been illegally stored inside the house of Haradhan for sale.

According to police, Kalicharan Das, an agent of Ahiyabari village under Dakhsin Defeli Bahumukhi Samabay Samiti Ltd, stored this rice in the house of Haradhan Sarkar and they were selling the rice at the rate of Rs. 900 per bag in the black market. Police arrested Haradhan Sarkar and Kailash Das while agent of Dakhin Defeli Bahumukhi Samabay Samiti, Kalicharan Das managed to escape from his house. A case has been registered at Tamulpur police station and investigation is going on for more information.
