GUWAHATI: Indian Air Force airmen Sachin Rohil was given a full military honours burial on Wednesday in his home village of Bhiwani Rohilla, Hisar district.
The 22-year-old martyr was killed while showing great courage while trying to rescue a civilian who was drowning in the Bharali River at Bhalukpong in Assam's Sonitpur district.
BJP MLA Randhir Panihar, Flight Lieutenant Anubhuti Bhardwaj, and Tehsildar Anil Bidhan, who represented the district administration, paid their respects by laying wreaths in his honor. Panihar lauded Rohil's ultimate sacrifice, calling him a soldier who showed unparalleled courage and commitment.
Airman Rohil's younger brother, Sagar, informed that he was serving in the 11th Air Wing of the Indian Air Force, based in Tezpur, Assam.
Born on March 23, 2002, Sachin Rohil had enlisted in the Indian Air Force on January 1, 2020. He is survived by his mother and younger brother, while his father had died earlier in a road accident.
A large group of sarpanchs from surrounding villages, ex-servicemen, and local residents also turned up to pay their respects to the braveheart.
