New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati will introduce a Master's Programme in Liberal Arts from July 2022 semester.
As per the initial report, the course will be offered by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The objective of the program is to provide interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary training to the students and to improve their ability to think critically and creatively about social, political and aesthetic issues,'' Professor T G Sithram, Director at IIT Guwahati was quoted as saying by media.
The institution claims that by engaging in meaningful cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary discussions, students will learn to make informed decisions and choices while also being aware of their ethical implications.
It further claims that IITs the courses are designed keeping in mind the new developments in education, such as liberal arts philosophy in thinking and enhancing life skills across all sectors.
As part of the curriculum, students will learn concepts such as geo-feature analytics, digital humanities, international relations and diplomacy, study of local literature and languages, field studies, and much more.
The self-learning plans for each semester will be unique. This is an educational project. This will inculcate leadership qualities in the students and they will be at the forefront of the future and policy makers.
