Late Labanya Bora, a distinguished advocate and long-serving member of the Tezpur Bar Library, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 7 at her residence in Tezpur. The wife of late Jiban Bora, former MLA, Labanya Bora was a revered figure in Tezpur’s legal and social circles. With a career spanning several decades, she was known for her unwavering commitment to justice, fairness, and ethical practice. Her sharp intellect was balanced by a deep sense of compassion, especially for women, children, and marginalized communities. She practised law not just as a profession, but as a means to uplift and empower.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Bora played a vital role in community life. She was actively involved in social welfare, education, women’s empowerment, and rural development. Her participation in charitable organizations, cultural forums, and grassroots initiatives made her a familiar and admired presence in the city. She was a voice of wisdom and kindness, and her ability to listen and empathize made her approachable and beloved by all.
While she was a devoted mother of three and a doting grandmother, Bora balanced her personal and professional life with grace. Her home was a space of love, learning, and warmth, much like the life she led in the public eye. On Tuesday, as we observe her Aadhya Shraddha, we remember a woman of strength, dignity, and service. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the values she upheld.
We offer our prayers for her eternal peace and give thanks for a life so richly lived. May her memory continue to inspire and guide us all.
Om Shanti
