Residents of Pakhiriguri village are discouraged since, despite several months of inception, the eagerly awaited plan to supply clean drinking water is still unfinished and non-operational.
The flagship mission's construction project has reportedly stopped in the middle and hasn't moved forward for months. Remarkably, just around 20% of the project's work has been finished thus far. Concerns over accountability and openness are heightened by the absence of an information board or signpost at the project site that would provide specifics.
The village is currently seeing scenes of abandonment after previously waiting hopefully for a drop of safe and pure drinking water. While the partially constructed infrastructure is gradually being overtaken by untamed vegetation, construction materials are strewn around and neglected.
Residents have expressed grave concerns about the oversight and dedication of the implementing agency and accused the contractor of abandoning the project in the middle. The locals have urged the concerned department to resume and finish the project as soon as possible and have demanded that Public Health Engineering Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah act immediately.
