GUWAHATI: In a major development, Guwahati Police has taken a significant step forward in the case of the suicide of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kisan Morcha Secretary Indrani Tahbildar by filing a comprehensive 1,200-page charge sheet. This charge sheet was submitted on Tuesday and marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing investigation.

Sources reveal that the Investigating Officer (IO) responsible for the case compiled the extensive charge sheet, clearly listing the names of BJP leaders Anurag Chaliha and Diban Deka among the accused. This development implicates them in the case related to the tragic suicide of the BJP leader.

However, the investigation into the cash-for-job scam, which surfaced in the wake of Indrani Tahbildar's death, faces an obstacle. Guwahati Police has been unable to apprehend Abhimanyu Das, one of the principal suspects in the scam, resulting in the delay of the charge sheet related to this aspect of the case.

It has come to light that Abhimanyu Das managed to evade authorities by fleeing to Thailand from Guwahati, carrying with him a sum of Rs. 30-35,000 in cash. In response, the police have taken measures to freeze all of his bank accounts.

The charge sheet's submission represents a significant milestone in the investigation into the suicide case, shedding light on the involvement of key individuals while the search for the absconding suspect continues.

Earlier, as the investigation into the tragic death of Indrani Tahbildar unfolded, further developments in the cash-for-job scam emerged, with the involvement of another Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader coming to light. Sources report that Chandmari Police has summoned Jnandip Mahanta, the vice president of BJP Kaliabor district, to appear on Monday in connection with the cash-for-job scandal. However, due to health issues, the BJP leader did not present himself at the police station.

It has been revealed that the police had previously interrogated Jnandip Mahanta upon receiving information about substantial financial transactions in his and another BJP leader Trishna Sarma's bank accounts. Authorities sought details regarding these monetary transactions, but as Mahanta failed to provide the necessary information, he was summoned once again.
