DOOMDOOMA: The new office bearers of the Lions club of Digboi for 2022-23 assumed charge at an installation ceremony held on Sunday. Chief guest-cum-installation officer Dr Shantanu Lahkar MJF (VDG 1 Dist 322 D) appointed Gayatree Borthakur as president,Durgeswar Roy as secretary and Sriman Hazarika as treasurer of the club. In the same meeting, Tulip Das, Shakya Shamik Kar Khound, Riddhiman Hazarika were appointed as president, secretary and treasurer respectively of Leo club Digboi Next Generation.
On the other hand Kuldeep Sharma, Natwa Bhushan Sonowal and Hiteswar Kachari were appointed as president, secretary and treasurer respectively of Pengree branch of Lions Club. In its history of 64 years, Gayatree Borthakur is the first lady president of the club. The meeting was presided over by the outgoing president-cum-present zone Chairman TS Bhamrah.
