NAGAON: As a part of the state government’s Arohan scheme, the District Commissioner of Nagaon, Narendra Kumar Shah, interacted with 226 meritorious students of the district at the auditorium of the district library on Monday. Under the Arohan scheme, the state government has initiated a visionary process so that each selected meritorious student, called the mentee, gets the opportunity to be helped and guided by one qualified mentor for excellent holistic growth in the field of education as well as intellectual growth and a career path.
Under the scheme, the Nagaon district administration organized an interactive session with over 226 meritorious student mentees of class 9 from the government schools of Nagaon district, along with the opportunity to share lunch with the chief mentor-cum- district commissioner of Nagaon. The meritorious students were doubly excited and were inspired to strive for betterment in their lives when Health and Family Welfare minister Keshab Mahanta joined them for lunch, which was organised at the Nagaon Government Boys’ High School, and interacted with the students.
In his speech, the DC explained the very essence of the Arohan scheme of the state government and also urged the students to display to the world via their excellence how students from government schools are at par with students from private institutions. He told the students to imbibe the life lessons and values of universal good put forward by Mahapurush Sri Sri Srimanta Shankardev and to never stop working for their goals.
Prasanta Konwar, District Programme Officer, SSA Nagaon, delivered the welcome address, while invited dignitaries such as SP Navaneet Mahanta, DDC Satyajit Chetia, DFO (T) Suhas Kadam, SDMO Dr. Mridul Kumar Nath, and Associate Professor Arindam Borkotoky of ADP College Nagaon motivated and encouraged the students with their insightful speeches. The programme also included the screening of a motivational documentary and the video of Chandrayaan-3 landing on the lunar surface, a few cultural presentations from the students, and a science magic show performed by the students of Nowgong College (autonomous).
CEO Zilla Parishad Ananta Kr Gogoi, ADC Manorama Morang, ADC Lakhsya J Das, ADC Phyllis VL Hrangchal, all Assistant Commissioners, officers, and staff of the district administration, education department, and other departments, guardians, teachers, and others also attended the programme, as stated in an official release here.
