An international workshop entitled ‘Entrepreneurship in Hospitality Industry: An Achiever’s journey’ was organized

DIBRUGARH: An international workshop entitled 'Entrepreneurship in Hospitality Industry: An Achiever's journey' was organized jointly by the Post Graduate Department of Commerce and the Department of Human Resource Management of DHSK Commerce College here in Dibrugarh on Wednesday.

Coordinator of the workshop and the Head of the Department of Human Resource Management, Dr Bhupesh Bhagawati delivered the welcome address where he stressed creating entrepreneurial motivation among the students. Citing the problems caused by continuous rise in unemployment, he observed that entrepreneurship can be a potent alternative to address such issues. Inaugurating the workshop, the Principal of the college, Dr Khanindra Misra Bhagawati also discussed the significance of entrepreneurship for socio-economic development. Putting special importance on the hospitality sector, he observed that the north-eastern region in the country has wide scope for entrepreneurship development.

Dr Tulika Mattak introduced the guests and the resource persons. Dr Pranjal Kr Phukan, the chief manager of BCPL, participated in the workshop as the keynote speaker. In his keynote address, he emphasized entrepreneurial start-ups to cope with the problem of unemployment. Dr Phukan gave a thorough account of the basic contents of entrepreneurship in his deliberations and was accepted very well by the audience. Resource person from Austria and the Managing Director of Trand Hotels Anstolts Pvt.Ltd. Liechtenstein, Yasobanta Mahanta captivated the audience through his lively discussion. In his address, he shared his experience explaining how he ventured into the field of hotel management, how he reached Austria, earned the laurel of the first foreigner in Austria to receive the prestigious Master Chef of Austria and how he was selected as the private chef of Princess Jasmin Aga Khan in Long Island, New York. In his hour-long speech, Mahanta cautioned would-be entrepreneurs that for being successful in any venture, the strength of the inner urge matters most and therefore, they should have a very strong motivation in favour of anything they dream of.

Bani Kachari offered the vote of thanks to the resource persons and the participants. Pankaj Sahu and Dr.Priyanka Dhanuka, the technical coordinator, helped in managing the question answer session. Nearly 250 participants from various fronts registered for the workshop.
