PATHSALA: Serious irregularities have been alleged against the Bajali Teachers’ Training College, Patacharkuchi by three governing body members who were associated with the college since its beginning. The members have already submitted petition to the State Education Minister stating the irregularities and appealed for proper enquiry in order to maintain a good educational atmosphere in the college.
The college has completed 25 years and is affiliated to GU and recognized by NCERT. Recently, the president of the governing body was replaced by a political party leader despite the fact that the term of the governing body president Bhabit Ch.Haloi was till August 19, 2019. Three governing body members earlier walked out of a meeting as a mark of protest against the irregularities. They informed the matter to the higher authority and submitted a petition to the principal pointing out their allegations. They also sent copies of the letter to the higher authorities. The new governing body president is Pabindra Deka, MLA of Patacharkuchi constituency. The three members are Atul Ch Sarma, retired teacher of Patacharkuchi Girls’ School, Dharanidhar Roy, retired Principal of Haflong Government College and Bhabit CH Haloi, retired subject teacher of Patacharkuchi Vidyapith HS School. They informed that they were surprised at the process of changing the president of the college governing body. They met the Director of SCERT and wanted to know how it was possible to nominate a new governing body president in the college. They also asked the Director how a political party man can lead a governing body.
The new governing body president was nominated through a letter from the Director of SCERT. The members also submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister alleging various irregularities like collection of fine from student indiscriminately, mental torture to the working staff by the principal, appointment of staff without advertisement, withdrawal of suspension of one of the teachers who was expelled in the M Ed examination by the governing body with new president and no proper audit.
Meanwhile, show cause notice has been served to the three members of the governing body by the governing body with new president. The reply of the show cause notice was also submitted by the members.
