Jamugurihat: A young man, identified as Arup Nath, has succumbed to Japanese Encephalitis in Jamugurihat, marking a grim development as the virus shows signs of rapid spread across several parts of Assam. The incident has heightened public health concerns, prompting authorities to ramp up surveillance and preventive action.

Despite ongoing awareness drives and medical interventions, new cases continue to emerge in various districts. Health officials have issued an urgent appeal to the public to take all necessary precautions, including avoiding mosquito bites, using insecticide-treated nets, and maintaining proper hygiene and sanitation.

Residents are also being advised to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as high fever, headaches, or mental confusion appear—particularly in children and the elderly, who are most vulnerable.

In response to the rising threat, the local health department has stepped up fogging operations and vaccination drives in high-risk zones. However, officials emphasize that community cooperation is critical to containing the outbreak. They have called for heightened public awareness and swift reporting of symptoms to prevent further fatalities.
