Jorhat DC Ashok Kumar Barman visits 'Pothar Konya' Nabanita Das' farm

JORHAT: Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat, Ashok Kumar Barman -known for his farmer-friendly attitude, on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the agricultural farm of 'Pothar Konya' Nabanita Das at Potiya Fokola village on the outskirts of Jorhat town.

Ashok Kumar Barman, during his tenure as the Deputy Commissioner in Darrang district, had encouraged the farmers to initiate multi-cropping in the organic way. His visit to the agricultural farm of 'Pothar Konya' Nabanita Das was intended to encourage the promising lady agri entrepreneur who was conferred with the 'Best Woman Farmer of the Country' award by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, three years back.

During his visit, he also discussed various aspects of agricultural farming initiated by Nabanita Das single-handedly and highly appreciated her spirit, commitment and dedication. Nabanita Das earlier extended a hearty welcome to the Deputy Commissioner with a bihuwan. He also inspected the construction of the proposed old-age home under the individual initiative of Nabanita Das and assured to extend all possible help and support. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Damodar Barman also accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the visit.

Seuji Asom- an organization of the progressive farmers of the State has highly appreciated the visit of the Deputy Commissioner to the agriculture farm of the 'Pothar Konya'.
