Jorhat DC orders magisterial inquiry

ASSAULT ON JMCH DOCTOR

JORHAT, June 5: The Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat, Narayan Konwar on Tuesday ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident of one his drivers (contractual) allegedly assaulting an intern doctor of Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) on duty on May 22 and the strike resorted by the interns. The Deputy Commissioner passed the order after receiving memorandum from the Jorhat district unit of the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad and employees of JMCH seeking a magisterial probe into the entire incident related to alleged manhandling of the intern by his driver and strike resorted by the interns thereafter.

The DC has directed to complete the inquiry within 15 days. The DC said that the probe would look into circumstances leading to the assault of the intern and development. Police had arrested Bora following the registration of a case (No.1193/2018) at Jorhat Police Station after the intern Dr Artriya Gupta lodged an FIR at the JMCH outpost. The interns thereafter withdrew the stir.
