Guwahati: The Kamrup (M) district administration has declared the Kamakhya Vidyalaya High School in Guwahati as a micro-containment zone for the next seven days.

This development was made after the principal of the school tested positive for COVID-19 and the school campus had to be isolated to be declared as a micro-containment zone.

As per reports, the principal is currently admitted to a private hospital in the city.

As per the order issued by the district administration dated October 28, the declaration of the containment zone will be effective from October 28 and last until November 4.

To take measures against the spread of the coronavirus among the staff and students, the school will remain close from October 28 to November 4.

On Thursday, most of the teachers of the school had to undergo COVID-19 testing mandatorily as instructed by the Kamrup (M) district administration.

A senior teacher of the school informed that the students of the school will get tested on Friday along with the remaining teachers who are yet to get tested.

On September 19, physical classes from Class I had resumed in all educational institutions across the state. The Assam government had issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) according to which particular days had been allotted for particular classes to refrain congestion of too many students in an institution's premises.
