Kokrajhar DC Varnali Deka holds review meet on COVID vaccination

KOKRAJHAR: A review meeting was held on Saturday at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka to review the performance of COVID-19 vaccination drive in the district.

Sources from the department concerned said as per estimated eligible population for vaccination of 18 years and above, total beneficiary are 6,43,166 out of which 3,55,089 were administered 1st dose and 63,903 were administered 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccination. The total percentage achieved in 1st dose is 55.21% and 2nd dose is 9.94% which is very low. So, in order to gear up percentage few strategies are adopted as pointed out by the Deputy Commissioner in the meeting.

Apart from COVID-19 vaccination centre, the vaccination will be administered in regular routine immunization session sites every Wednesday. Students' union bodies, clerics of church, VCDC members and prominent persons in the community will advocate the people to come forward for taking vaccination.

Numbers of COVID-19 vaccination centre will be increased up to village level. Group meetings will be conducted in those pockets where there are refusals for COVID vaccination and ward wise survey will be conducted in Kokrajhar and Gossaigaon town area to find out left out eligible beneficiary.

P.K Gupta (ADC), Jt. Director of Health Services, SDM & HOs, District Immunization Officer, NHM officials from District and Block level were present in the meeting.
