Lakhimpur All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) submits memorandum

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district body of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has once again expressed strong concern over the smuggling of drugs, marketing of illegal Arunachali liquor along with unabated gambling that are going on in some places in the district.

Regarding the issue, several regional units of the organization under Lakhimpur district committee submitted memoranda on Monday to Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police to initiate stringent actions against these social evils. The North Lakhimpur regional unit AASU submitted its memorandum regarding the issues to the Lakhimpur SP. In the memorandum, the organization asserted that the smuggling of illegal drugs, rampant sale of Arunachali liquor and unabated gambling at some places in the district had polluted the social environment.

Under such circumstances, the organization demanded the SP to arrest the persons involved in the mentioned misdeeds and to take special to build a drugs-liquor-gambling-free Lakhimpur for the greater interest of the upcoming generation. In addition to North Lakhimpur regional unit, the Chaoldhowa-Boginadi, Kadam and Naoboicha regional units of the organization also submitted separate memoranda to Lakhimpur through respective circle officers regarding the same issues. The Dhakuakhana regional unit submitted its memorandum to the SDO of Dhakuakhana subdivision.

On the other hand, Laluk, Bihpuriya. Kherajkhat border, Harmoti, Narayanpur, Rajgarh and Dhalpur regional units of Lakhimpur AASU submitted their separate memoranda on the same issues to the DC of the district on Tuesday.
