LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur District Journalist Association (LDJA) vehemently condemned the attack on a journalist of Dhemaji district. Some anti-social miscreants savagely attacked Banamali Mahanta, a journalist from Chichiborgaon in Dhemaji district, inside the premises of the Chichiborgaon police station while he was going to collect news.

Condemning the incident, LDJA working president Kumud Baruah and general secretary Manoj Borpatra Gohain demanded the Dhemaji district administration and police department to arrest the culprits immediately and to award them stern punishment. In this regard, LDJA called upon the district administration and the police department concerned not to show any kind of dereliction to award the culprits legal punishment in view of ensuring the security of the journalist community. Notably, the issue was raised in the National Press Day programme organized by Lakhimpur district administration on Saturday.
