Lakhimpur District Xahitya Xabha observes Lachit Divas

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur District Xahitya Xabha (LDXX) observed Lachit Divas on Sunday by organizing colourful programmes in a befitting manner under the auspices of Dhalpur Sakha Xahitya Xabha and in association with the local people. The event was organized at the auditorium of Shree Shree Aniruddhadeva Dakua Kamarsuk Gathan Sangha located at Dhalpur Tiniali. The programme began with the unfurling of Axam Xahitya Xabha flag by Dhalpur Sakha Xahitya president Purnananda Bhuyan. Celebration Committee president and retired professor Dr. Mineswar Doley, Dhalpur Regional Pensioners’ Association president Brojen Hazarika and retired teacher Mahendra Hazarika paid floral tribute to the portrait of Lachit Barphukan, the valorous general of the Ahom era.

The open session organized on the occasion commenced with the title song of the Axam Xahitya Xabha with LDXX president-in charge Umananda Baruah in the chair. It was inaugurated by retired teacher Nagen Baruah. Academician Upen Baruah, retired professor and Lakhimpur District Lekhika Samaroh Samiti president Chandika Dutta Konwar, Madhavdeva University professor Bhaskar Jyoti Doley and Kalabari College professor Deepak Baruah participated in the programme as appointed speakers. The speakers, in their speeches, spoke about the valour and courage of Lachit Borphukan, his efficiency in managing soldiers, presence of mind in adverse situation and patriotism.

All of them laid stress on extensive research on the still undiscovered facts of the hero of the historic battle of Saraighat. They appealed to noted and fresh researchers to extend their study on the famous historic personality.

LDXX secretary Biren Chandra Bordoloi and spokesman Prasanta Kumar Modak took part as guests of honour in the programme which was held under the management of Dhalpur Sakha Xahitya Xabha secretary Manoj Kumar Das. In the same programme, Union Government award winner and director of ‘Bonteertha’, Dr. Prabin Saikia was given warm felicitation by LDXX for his achievement. A galaxy of dignitaries, representing various leading ethnic organizations, took part in the programme wherein various cultural items on the theme of patriotism were also staged.
