Lakhimpur prepares to tackle natural disasters like such as flood and other anomalies

LAKHIMPUR: Lakhimpur District Administration has undertaken due preparation to tackle the possible natural disasters, such as flood and other anomalies, to occur in the upcoming rainy season in the district.

In this regard, in order to discuss about how to manage the disasters, a meet of the District Administration, in the presence of the departmental heads of the district, was held on Thursday at the conference hall of the DC office. Chairing the meet, DC Dr. Jeevan B. instructed all the departmental heads to prepare for shouldering major responsibilities in order to save the life of common people and to minimize the destruction during the possible natural disasters.

He suggested the departments concerned to frame report to tackle the flood problems. He instructed the district Veterinary Department to prepare a survey report on livestock, Agriculture Department on corpse area, Health Department to deposit medicines, Welfare Department (ICDS) to deposit infants’ food, Public Health and Engineering Department to manage pure drinking water and toilet system, Food and Civil Supply Department to deposit adequate amount of food items, Disaster Management Department to set rescue boats along with drivers, the Water Resources Department to measure the water levels of the flood causing major rivers regularly, PWD(Rural) to repair the deplorable roads and culverts, Electricity Department to remove the weak electric posts and wires and the Circle Officers to make report about unnatural deaths and about relief drives.

In the meet, discussion in details was held about the possible impact of the cyclonic storm Fani in the district too. ADCs Bipul Kumar Das, Saranga Pani Sarmah and the Circle Officers of the district were present in the event.
