Lakhimpur registers 8,003 COVID-19 cases, 59 casualties

LAKHIMPUR: Lakhimpur registered 8,003 COVID-19 cases on Saturday. Out of them, 7,966 patients have been discharged while only 37 are active cases. The active cases are under home isolation. A total of four patients were reported in the district on Saturday as per Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). Only 17 COVID-19 patients were detected in the district this week.

Notably, the first COVID-19 case was detected in the district on April 4 and he was an attendee of the Nizamuddin Jamat congregation held in New Delhi. Since that day, a total of 7,632 patients with fatal coronavirus infection had been detected in the district till October 21 with increasing rate. However, the detected number of coronavirus patients began to recede from October 22 and only 375 patients have been detected till day since then. Though the COVID-19 patients of the district had been treated at District COVID Hospital at Telahi Model Hospital, Laluk COVID Care Center (CCC) at Laluk Model Hospital, Narayanpur CCC at Narayanpur Model Hospital, Narayanpur Poly-technique CCC, Boginadi CCC at Boginadi Model Hospital, Naoboicha College CCC and North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital, no COVID-19 patient is there in these health care centres at present from the first week of November.

On the other hand, the pandemic has claimed the life of 59 people in the district till day as per report found from District Health department. Notably, with 169 new positive cases reported on Friday, Assam's COVID-19 case tally reached 2,13,505. The total number of cases in the State includes 3,551 active cases, 2,08,964 discharged cases and 987 deaths.
