Lakhimpur unit of All Assam Students' Union observes Sanghati Divas

LAKHIMPUR: All the regional units under Lakhimpur district body of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) observed the Sanghati Divas (Integration Day) on Monday commemorating the martyrs Brajen Ingti and Putul Saikia who made supreme sacrifices in the economic movement and food movement of the State that took place in 1974.

The event organized on this occasion by North Lakhimpur regional unit of AASU at North Lakhimpur Town High School campus, kicked off with the unfurling of the organizational flag and paying of floral tribute to the martyrs.

The public meeting was chaired by the regional president Pranjit Gogoi. Participating in the programme, Lakhimpur district AASU secretary Dhanmoni Dutta elaborated the significance of Sanghati Divas along with commemorating the noble sacrifices of the martyrs concerned.

A series of essay and extemporary speech competitions were also organized among students on the occasion.

The winners of the competitions were given away prizes in the public meeting where the teachers and students of the school, local public and the members of the organization were present.
