MANGALDAI: “The long felt demand for a medical college in Darrang district is going to be transformed into a reality as following the recent assurance made by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma at Mangaldai, the district administration has already allotted a plot of suitable land measuring 100 bighas for the proposed medical college,” said Sipajhar legislator Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi on Tuesday. The legislator made this announcement while laying the foundation of the OPD unit at Patharighat Block Public Health Centre in Sipajhar LAC. The unit will be constructed under the CSR Fund. Deputy Commissioner of Darrang Munindra Nath Ngatey, Joint Director of Health Services Dr Nirmal Beria and other officials of Health Department also took part in the foundation laying function.
Legislator Dr. Rajbongshi and Deputy Commissioner Munidra Nath Ngatey also inspected the ‘Tobacco free Health Institution Signages’ which were installed at Patharughat BPHC by District Health Society, NTCP Darrang in presence of District Health officials, BPHC officers and media persons.
