JORHAT: The Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya (MSSV) Jorhat unit was inaugurated on Tuesday at Gayangaon, Tarajan in Jorhat.
The inaugural ceremony started with the university anthem. Prof. Mrinal Kr. Borah, Registrar of the University, gave the inaugural speech. In the speech, he mentioned the history of MSSV and future planning. He also said that two more units of MSSV would be opened in Goalpara and Dibrugarh in the near future.
Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Mridul Hazarika thanked Siva Prasad Baruah for offering the building to the university. In his welcome address, he also added that this university could see the light of the day due to the sacrifices, contribution and dedication of the Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha.
Attending the ceremony as the guest of honour, Prof Ajanta Borgohain Rajkonwar, Vice-Chancellor of Assam Women University, praised the effort and dedication of the members of Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha. Attending as chief guest, Bidyut C Deka, Vice-Chancellor of Assam Agriculture University, praised the donor, Shivaprasad Baruah for his divine donation. He also said that education must be a holistic approach for the development of the students.
