BARPETA: Mahendra Das on Wednesday took charge as chairman of Urban Development Authority, Barpeta. The post was lying vacant for six months. Mahendra Das is a social worker, student leader of greater Barnagar of Sarbhog and member of Meda-Nichuka Zila Parishad. The government appointed him as the chairman on May 15. On Wednesday he took charge from the administrative officer of Barpeta district administration, Gayatri Sarma.
