Maitree Ashram of Lakhimpur extends help to flood victims

LAKHIMPUR: Maitree Ashram of Lakhimpur, a noted Ashram established by Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite disciple Vinoba Bhawe, distributed relief items among the flood victims of sixteen villages under Amtola area in the district. Notably, these people were severely affected by the flood caused by Ranganadi river some days back due to the release of excess water from the Ranganadi dam.

The Maitree Ashram team, led by managing trustee Champa Pator, comprising Jayanti Das, Aparajita Chutia and Anjali Dey distributed different kinds of food items among the flood-affected people of Amtola Bangaon, Amtola Dowarpar, Nagar Gaon, Pokadol, Sapekhati, Pachim Karatipar, Gopalpur, Joinpur, Pub Amtola Nepali Gaon, Kathal Pukhuri, Bonia Gaon, Shantipur, Bishnupur etc. Youth social activist Suresh Gogoi, journalist Sanjib Borah, Gaonburah Golap Das, Panchayat member Pranamika Doley and a group of youth extended active co-operation to the team towards the smooth conduct of the programme.
