Man gets electrocuted while repairing high voltage 33KV power line in Golaghat

SARUPATHAR: A Man was electrocuted and seriously burnt while he was repairing and greasing a high voltage 33KV power line at Naojan under Golaghat district on Monday evening. Onlookers said that he got stuck after being electrocuted while he was greasing on a 33KV power line (feeder) and was rushed to the Sarupathar Civil Hospital.

The injured person was identified as Joy Prakash Chounah (35), resident of Chungajan in Dhansiri subdivision under Golaghat district. When Chouhan was greasing a newly-constructed 33KV power line (feeder) on Monday evening at Naojan powerhouse, the electricity supply suddenly resumed to test the newly-constructed 33KV power line and Chouhan was electrocuted.

Local people gathered and alerted the electricity department and police. Chouhan, a private APDCL worker, was rescued after hanging there for 5-10 minutes. He was taken to the Sarupathar civil hospital in a critical condition for first-aid. After that the doctor referred him to Golaghat Civil Hospital for further treatment.
