IMPHAL: The Manipur Government honored the Assam Police during the 54th Statehood Day celebrations held at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Ground in Imphal. The recognition highlighted the strong collaboration between the two states' police forces in ensuring regional security and coordination.

Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh shared the news on Twitter, expressing gratitude for the acknowledgment. “An absolute pleasure and privilege. Congratulations to the Team T&AP of Assam Police,” he tweeted, emphasizing the enhanced coordination among North East police agencies under the supervision of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The event underscored the strengthened ties between northeastern states in their joint efforts toward maintaining law and order.

Prime Minister Modi also conveyed his greetings to the people of Manipur on their 54th Statehood Day on Tuesday. Posting on X, the Prime Minister said, "Greetings to the people of Manipur on their Statehood Day. We are incredibly proud of the role played by the people of Manipur towards India's development. My best wishes for the progress of Manipur."

President Droupadi Murmu also greeted Manipur, Tripura and Meghalaya on the occasion of their 54th Statehood Day and wished them a peaceful and happy future.

The states in the northeastern region were reorganised under the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971. On January 21, 1972, Manipur and Tripura were granted statehood under this Act, whereas Meghalaya was separated from Assam because of its distinct terrain.
