MORIGAON: The Mayong block has been running without the BDO since March 9. As a result, poverty-alleviation schemes have hit a roadblock. The new BDO of Raha block, Vaskar Borbara has not joined the block even though Mayong’s BDO Bidyut Bora was transferred to Tinsukia district on March 9.

The new BDO of Raha block, who is to succeed the outgoing BDO Bidyut Bora, has not been able to join the block till date as he has not been released from Nagaon. Meanwhile, though newly-elected presidents of 27 GPs under Mayong block have sent schemes through the block to the CEO-cum-PD for approval, due to the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha election, the schemes have not been implemented. The beneficiaries of 27 GPs have demanded the CEO to immediately appoint a permanent BDO in the block.
