DIBRUGARH: Dibrugarh's pride, Mayuri Das, Principal and founder of Mayuri Nritya Niketan, has made history by becoming the first person from Assam to receive the prestigious 'Ratnamani' award. The honour was conferred upon her at a grand ceremony held at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata, recently.
Mayuri Das, known for her dedication to promoting classical dance and Assamese culture, has significantly contributed to the field of performing arts. Her recognition at the national level marks a proud moment for Assam and the entire Northeast. This achievement highlights the rich cultural heritage of Assam and the talent emerging from Dibrugarh. It is expected to inspire many young artists to pursue their dreams in the world of classical dance.
Mayuri Nritya Niketan was established in 2003, owned by Mayuri Das. The dance school teaches Bharatnatyam with involvement of every other dance form and type. Currently it has 300 students.
