Mentally-ill youth drowns in Sootea, body recovered from pond

Sensation continued to prevail in and around the Gorpal area on the southern part of Jamugurihat over the drowning of a youth on Sunday morning.

JAMUGURIHAT: Sensation continued to prevail in and around the Gorpal area on the southern part of Jamugurihat over the drowning of a youth on Sunday morning. According to information, one Dipak Sutar (35 years) went missing from his house in the wee hours. The family members tried to locate his whereabouts but in vain. Later, his slippers were spotted near a pond by the villagers. On doubt, some of the villagers dived into the pond and found the body of the youth.

According to sources, the youth worked in a private company out of state and had returned home a couple of months ago. The mentally-ill youth was undergoing treatment at home. A team of Sootea Police reached the site and sent the body for autopsy. The unfortunate death of the youth cast a pall of gloom in the area.
