LAKHIMPUR: A unique system in the nation for the Geo-Tagging of the houses, constructed under Prime Minister Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), was launched in Lakhimpur on Thursday. The Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development department Naba Doley inaugurated the system, christened as PMAY-G OBD in a ceremonial program organized at the Lakhimpur District Library auditorium under the aegis of Lakhimpur District Rural Development Agency (DRDA).

Notably, the OBD (Out Bound Dialler) system under PMAY-G has been launched to avert untoward anomalies faced by the beneficiaries and the department concerned with regard to Geo-Tagging of the PMAY-G houses. The beneficiaries can register their requests for geo-tagging of PMAY houses upon completion of plinth level, lintel level, roof level works respectively through their mobile phones. Once geo-tagging requests get registered in OBD system, stationed in New Delhi, DRDA will get list of such beneficiaries who got registered for geo-tagging. Then the DRDA will send the list to GPCs concerned to get geo-tagging of the houses within 7 days.

The concept of the system was coined by Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur Dr. Jeevan B. It is implemented for the first time for PMAY-G programme in India for Lakhimpur district, with the help of NICSI, Messaging Division, New Delhi and DIO Mithun Mukharjee and DIA Jagadish Burhagohain of National Information Center, Lakhimpur district.
