Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury visits flood-affected areas of Bongaigaon

BONGAIGAON: Phani Bhusan Choudhury, Minister of Assam visited the flood affected areas of Bongaigaon on Sunday in an SDRF boat. Several officers of Bongaigaon district administration had accompanied him. Addressing the mediapersons he said that he will take necessary steps for rescue of the affected people and supply relief. He also assured to solve the root cause of this artificial flood, i.e. building proper drainage system.

Almost entire Bongaigaon town was affected by artificial flood due to continuous rainfall. Areas like Borpara, Mayapuri, Natunpara, Dolaigaon, Palpara, Babupara, Lichutola, Gurunanak Nagar, Bongaigaon and New Bongaigaon Railway colony etc have been flooded badly. The reason for the floods is insufficient drainage system in the town.

Meanwhile, SDRF rescued several families from different part of the town and they were shifted to safer place.
