GUWAHATI: A woman succumbed to injuries after her inebriated son allegedly beat her at Mornoi Tea Estate in Assam.
According to reports, a woman named Bhimsari Bhengra was beaten to death by her son in Kokrajhar following an argument about his drinking problems.
Notably, on Tuesday night the accused returned home in an inebriated state and began an altercation with his mother. The verbal altercation quickly escalated into a physical altercation, and he began thrashing his mother severely.
She was seriously injured during her son's attack, and she died as a result of her injuries before she could be rescued and sent to the hospital.
On Wednesday morning, Patresh was apprehended by the police. The accused lived in Dingdingi, a village in Kokrajhar's Mornoi Tea Estate.
Last year in Assam's Cachar district, a 34-year-old man is accused of beating his elderly mother to death. Officials said the culprit was apprehended after his father filed an FIR against him.
Amarjit Deb, the accused, is a resident of Gosaipur part V in the Cachar district's Udharbond assembly seat. At around 11:30 p.m. Amarjit dragged his mother Sumati Deb from her room and beat her with bamboo sticks, according to his father, Apurba Kumar Deb. After a few hours, she passed away.
Amarjit Deb appeared in court and was placed on police remand for further investigation. On Monday, Sumati Deb's body was taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy. Local reporters tried to capture Amarjit Deb's reaction when he was being escorted to court. "My mother was psychologically unstable," he explained, "and when I arrived home fatigued that day, she started spewing nonsense." It enraged me to the point where I lost control." He stated that he had no regrets about what he had done.
