BOKAKHAT: A motorcycle thief escaped from Bokakhat Sadar police station on Tuesday. On August 11, local residents in the heart of Bokakhat town had nabbed the motorcycle thief and handed him over to the Bokakhat police. At around 2:30 PM on Tuesday, the thief managed to escape from the police station, evading the police, and creating a wave of shock and concern throughout Bokakhat.

Following his escape, there was chaos among the Bokakhat police. Immediately after the incident, police launched operations in various parts of the town to search for the thief, but as of the time of reporting, they had been unable to trace him.

Local residents had chased and caught the motorcycle thief on the Hospital road in Bokakhat and handed him over to the police.

According to sources, the thief, identified as Anuj Karmakar, had joined work as a vehicle supplier in Golaghat and soon after, started stealing motorcycles. He had fled with a Discover bike (registration number AS05F3285) from Pachalighat in Golaghat. His residence is reported to be in Diphlu, under Bokakhat police station.

The fact that such a thief could escape from a police station has raised serious concerns among the public. In light of repeated theft incidents in Bokakhat town and its surrounding areas, the inability of the police to catch the thieves reflects poorly on the Bokakhat police force.
