LAKHIMPUR: Several organizations in Lakhimpur district have opposed the establishment of a liquor and hukka bar with disco in North Lakhimpur town by a commercial institution named Living Hub.

According to these organizations, there is no need for such a commercial outlet in a small city like North Lakhimpur and it will lead the young generation astray. In this connection, the North Lakhimpur regional units of Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Assam (TAYPA) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad (AJYP) submitted separate memoranda to the Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, Dr. Jeevan B demanding him to cancel the licence of the commercial institution Living Hub. They alleged that some untoward incidents that took place at Living Hub in the past had created controversy across the district.
