Multi Skill Development Centre launched in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: A flagship project of Multi Skill Development Centre sponsored by Dao Division of Indian Army has been launched in Pengree of Tinsukia district on Wednesday. Aimed at providing relevant skill development training to the youth for secured livelihood in the area of Pengree with Indianeers Media Pvt Ltd (IMPL) as the training partner, the project has been aligned with the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. Till now about 150 boys and girls of Pengree of nearby villages have enrolled themselves for this pioneer project. In the first batch, 120 boys and girls would get trained in tailoring and computer skills for a period of three months.

Major General Gajinder Singh GOC of 2 Mountain Division while inaugurating the project said that the centre at Pengree will provide training for tailoring and computer skills to both boys and girls and on completion of the training, the candidates would get National Certification for Skills which would enable them to get good jobs anywhere in the country, he observed. More importantly, he said, it will give the individual an important National Level Qualification on which the candidates attending can build further and achieve greater success. A constant liaison and coordination by Army with IMPL and infrastructure partners resulted in realisation of this project. The Indian Army also plans to open more Multi Skill Development Centres at Margherita, Jagun, Kakopathar, Digboi and Philobari where courses will be offered in logistics management, stitching, embroidery, weaving and computer skills, he announced.

Meanwhile, the centre which received an overwhelming response from the locals in Pengree thanked the Army for its contribution towards realisation of the skill development mission.
