Murder victims' kin gets financial assistance under CM's Sishu Seva Scheme (Phase-II)

BOKO: Two children, Tuesbar R Marak (9) and Joreka R Marak (7), who survived the gruesome murder of their parents at Satekona village under Boko police station in Kamrup district received financial assistance from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma under Chief Minister's Sishu Seva Scheme (Phase-II) in Guwahati on Sunday.

The children will be provided with a monthly income scheme (MIS) of Rs 3,500 per month, the interest accrued on a fixed deposit of Rs 7.67 lakh deposited in their respective names. The MIS will continue till they attain the age of 24 years. Miscreants killed their parents Moinod D Sangma and Salje R. Marak and dumped their bodies in a nearby pond on the night of September 1, 2021.

A case has been registered in Boko Police station vide case number 824/2021 under section 120 (B)/302 IPC. Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Since the day of the murder, Tuesbar R Marak has been staying with his aunt Selia D. Sangma at Goalkona village in Boko while Joreka R Marak has been staying with her grand mother Marbina R. Marak and grandfather Priting R. Marak in Satekona village. Tuesbar R Marak studying in class Two at Gohalkona Lower Primary school while Joreka R Marak has been studying in Hantaikona Lower Primary School in class One.

Clearson R. Marak, uncle of Tuesbar and Joreka highly expressed his happiness to Assam Chief Minister and said that the whole family and the village will never forget his helping hand towards the orphan children. Sarma also provided financial assistance to 8 orphans who lost their parents during COVID-19 pandemic.

The orphan children who received the assistance include Manjeet Baro, Taslima Khatun, Raju Chouhan, Annas Ali, Arjun Pegu, Shiba Pegu, Shivani Pegu and Priyanka Kalita. State's Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Bora, Rajya Sabha MP Pabitra Margherita, Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua and other senior officials were also present.
