TINSUKIA: Mystery still shrouds the murder of a woman who was brutally killed by three miscreants in her house near 800 no. gate under Hijuguri OP on the outskirts of Tinsukia on Monday evening when her daughter was away at work. The slain woman has been identified as Elina Khandakar (47).

According to reports, the daughter of the victim, Rachu Amina (24), after reaching home noticed three persons - Pankaj, Biki, and Rahul - coming out her house, purportedly after killing Elima, and asked her to accompany them. When she refused, they forcibly took her to a nearby bush and tied her to a tree. They told her that they would bring her mother too and fled. The miscreants also took her scooty and mobile phone. Somehow she freed herself and reported the matter to her neighbor and did not dare to go to her house. She told the police that all the three persons were known to their family and used to frequently visit another neighbour-Lakheswar Mura.

Police did not rule out the involvement of Mura in the crime. All the three accused are at large, as well as Lakheswar Mura. Dipak Tamuli, OC of Tinsukia police station, said that hunt was on to nab the accused but could not ascertain the motive behind the murder.
