DHUBRI: A National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) was inaugurated at Gauripur in Dhubri district under District Regulated Market Committee, Gauripur by Dhubri District Commissioner Dibakar Nath on Tuesday.
Constructed under the APART (Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation) project, this state-of-the-art facility includes dedicated infrastructure such as wholesaler sheds, retailer sheds, auction platforms, drinking water and sanitation facilities, and is aimed at streamlining and modernizing agricultural trade in the region.
While addressing the gathering, the District Commissioner expressed his happiness over the successful launch of the long-pending e-NAM facility. He encouraged all farmers, wholesalers, and agri-producers to register on the e-NAM portal, which offers transparent, competitive pricing and wider market access. He also invited stakeholders to actively engage in trading activities at this well-equipped marketplace and assured that any operational issues could be addressed through the market committee.
During his address, District Agricultural Officer-cum-Chairman Azim Ahmed urged all farmers to register on the e-NAM portal and take full advantage of the available facilities.
Wholesalers present at the event requested the establishment for godown storage facilities and the formation of a dedicated market management committee. Responding to the demand, the chairman informed that a godown project had already been proposed and would be implemented shortly. He also assured that a market committee would be constituted in the coming days to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the marketplace. The event was attended by several dignitaries, farmers, and key stakeholders.
