DIBRUGARH: A delegation of senior military and civil service officers from the National Defence College (NDC) in New Delhi visited Dibrugarh on Friday on a comprehensive tour. The group, comprising both Indian and international participants, visited several significant locations as part of their national security and strategic study course.

This is one of the components of the 47-week-long program offered by the NDC to train high-ranking officers in an in-depth understanding of different strategic, social, economic, and political landscapes both within the country and outside. The NDC selects about 25 officers from foreign countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the UAE, to be part of this program along with Indian officers.

During their visit, the delegation went to Bindhakota village, birthplace of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, to interact with officials and locals regarding regional development and governance. Their visit to the Fair Price Shop was one of the major events, where officers from the Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs Department outlined the Public Distribution System (PDS). This system is particularly critical in ensuring food security for millions of Indians; therefore, this briefing would get the delegation to see firsthand its grassroots implementation.

The accompanying team has averred that such visits are crucial in linking theoretical knowledge with practical applications, especially about the challenges of implementation at the community level.
