National Press Day observed at Biswanath

Biswanath Chariali: National Press Day, 2018 was observed on Friday at Behali Degree College, Borgang in Biswanath district under the aegis of the Subdivisional Information and Public Relation Office, Biswanath in cooperation with Biswanath district administration and Behali Press Club. The welcome address was delivered by Biswanath Subdivisional Information and Public Relation Officer Prashanta Kumar Borah while the earthen lamp was lit by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Biswanath Diganta Baishya in fond memory of journalists who had sacrificed their lives for establishing truth and justice.

Taking part as the distinguished speaker on the topic ‘Morality in Journalism : Challenges in the Digital Era’, Dr Anjan Ojah, Principal of Chaiduar College, Gohpur said that giving coverage to truth and reality in a complete manner should be the sole aim of every pressman, parrying every temptation which came in his or her way. At present it was noticed that humanity had got less importance, he added. He also called upon the pressmen to lay stress on truth, purity, freedom, clarity and impartiality and humanity and responsibility.

The programme was attended by SDO (C), Gohpur Narendra Kumar Shah, Biswanath Circle Officer Biswajit Saikia, writer Dilip Kumar Baruah, Principal of Behali Degree College, Dr Jivan Chandra Nath, Diganta and other dignitaries.
