KOKRAJHAR: The 4th annual conference of Bengal state All-Bodo Students Union (ABSU) held at Chekamari (Madarihat) in Alipurdwar concluded on Sunday. A new Executive Body of Bengal state, ABSU was formed in the conference with Pratap Karji as president and Santimay Narzinary as general secretary. ABSU president Dipen Boro graced the open session as the chief guest.
Talking to media persons, Dipen Boro said that the ABSU discussed the key issues of the Bodo students of West Bengal. He said that the meeting discussed the inclusion of the Bodo subject in the schools of Bodo-dominated areas of West Bengal, establishment of Bodoland Bhawan, publication and distribution of textbooks for pre-primary level, etc. He also said that the central committee, ABSU will extend all necessary support to the West Bengal state committee, ABSU and appealed to them to mobilize awareness on quality education, social change, and cultural and language workshops, etc.
The open session was also attended by Kokrajhar MLA Lawrence Islary, MP of Alipurduar Monoj Tigga, General Secretary of Dularai Boro Harimu Afad (DBHA) Bijitgiri Basumatary, noted comedian Mendela Brahma, ABSU leaders, and intellectuals Nicodimus Hajary, Pranay Karji, Saranjit Narjinary Mahesh Ch Narjinary, and others.
