Haflong, Dec 5: As the NRC officials engaged for the house-to-house verification in Dima Hasao are not being paid their allowances, the NRC upgradation process in Dima Hasao might get hampered, opined conscious citizens of Dima Hasao. The district of Dima Hasao, unlike other districts of State, lacks the means of transportation and being hilly, the National Register of Citizenship officials with no allowances have to travel vast terrains of the district for the NRC upgradation process, and that too in a specified period. They face untold sufferings primarily for the transportation. Deputy Commissioner Devojyoti Hazarika said that the government did not release any amount for the last several months in regard to NRC upgradation. Around 43,000 families in Dima Hasao have applied for inclusion of their mes in the NRC, out of which 5,750 are disputed and in Haflong, 446 are disputed.
