Numaligarh: Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), which was set up at Numaligarh in the district of Golaghat in accordance with the provisions made in the historic Assam Accord, has been conceived as a vehicle for speedy industrial and economic development of the region. Since its incorporation, NRL has been simultaneously endeavouring to enhance skills of locals and creating employment opportunities directly or indirectly.
Recently, NRL took a step ahead and set an example by organizing training for the locals on making of boiler-suits. Two trainers of Junaki Stitching Training Centre who provided the training were Junu Bora and Md Mukul Khan. After completion of their training programme, a group of 33 youths has already started making the boiler suits.
In his statement, Project Coordinator of the programme, Bhoirob Kamal Duwarah said that a group of 33 learners and 10 experienced tailors was working day and night simultaneously to complete the first order of 500 boiler suits. Prior to this, all the boiler suits were procured from outside Assam. According to Duarah, after the first shipment of 500 boiler suits, NRL has also promised another additional order of 5,000 boiler suits.
