LAKHIMPUR: The oath-taking ceremony of North Lakhimpur Municipal Board (NLMB) was once again postponed on Saturday by Lakhimpur district administration. The oath-taking ceremony of the board led by Congress ward commissioner Surya Phukan was fixed on December 6 but it was not held on that stipulated day and the district administration re-fixed the day for the event to be held on Saturday.

As a result of postponement of the oath-taking ceremony on two consecutive dates, Surya Phukan and Renuka Gohain Baruah, who were selected as chairman and vice-chairperson of the Municipal Board on November 9 after BJP chairman Samiran Konwar lost the no-confidence motion on the same day, could not take their charge and so the board is non-fucntional right now. “No information was intimated to us by the district administration in black and white why today’s event was again postponed,” Surya Phukan told
