Obituary: Dipen Kumar Sarma

Noted social worker, former student leader of Dhamdhama area of Nalbari district, Dipen Kumar Sarma left for his heavenly abode after battling with COVID-19 related complications on the evening of May 11 in Guwahati. He was 55.

He was associated with Dhamdhama regional unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and had played a torchbearer's role in the historic Assam Movement. He was also associated with a number of socio-religious organizations and institutions, including Dhamdhama Unnayan Samity, Nalbari Hari Mandir, among others. He leaves behind his mother, wife, a son, a daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers.

His death was widely mourned by Dhamdhama regional unit of AASU, Dhamdhama Unnayan Samity, Dhamdhama Press Club, Dhamdhama regional unit of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), among others.
