Dwarik Sharma, youngest son of 'Darshanik Kobi' Rai Bahadur Durgeswar Sarma, passed away on January 16, 2022, around 10.30 am due to COVID-19. He was 83 years at the time of his death.
Soft-spoken, erudite and spiritually inclined, Sharma topped the Gauhati University at the graduation level and then obtained his MBA degree with distinction from Glasgow University in the early 60s. In his college days, he riveted to Table Tennis which afforded him opportunities to represent Assam in several national TT championships held in India and once in Colombo, Sri Lanka in the mid 50s. He also lifted the Champion Title in Glasgow University, while he was a student there.
After a dedicated service with MIDC, Shillong, he retired as a Business Management Senior Executive. Later, he settled down in his paternal house in Guwahati and devoted his retired life to social service. Earlier, he was the convenor of Sri Satya Sai Organization. He was a Trustee of Sri Satya Sai State Trust at the time of his death.
His death has been mourned by a large circle of his friends and relatives. He leaves behind his wife Dipali Sharma, a son and a daughter, besides a host of relatives and friends.
