ONGC felicitates Super 30 students in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR: Fifteen students of ONGC sponsored Super 30 centre (Sivasagar) who have successfully cracked JEE-2021 were felicitated on Thursday by Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Megha Nidhi Dahal in presence of SDO, Nazira, Sabyasachi Kashyap, Executive Director-Asset Manager, Assam Asset, RK Sharma, Chief General Manager-Head HR M Ganeshan, ED-Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL) Meenakshi Shahi at ONGC's Officers' Club, Sivasagar.

Congratulating the students, Deputy Commissioner Dahal said, "ONGC's super 30 programme is a boon for the people of Assam and Northeast. Though there is proliferation of technology and information, but appropriate guidance to enter the portals of IITs and NITs is lacking in the region. Programmes such as Super 30 are a great source for apt guidance to get into premiere institutes of the country, he added.

RK Sharma, ED-Asset Manager, ONGC Assam Asset speaking on the occasion exhorted the students that they should not fall prey to the distracting elements on the new college campuses of international stature. He recommended staying focused on the goal of achieving all round success in life and learning more.

Referring to Super 30 he added, "We expect 100 per cent result in the coming batches from Super 30 of Sivasagar." On CSR in Asset's operational areas, he informed that the Asset has spent near 100 crores in last six years.

M Ganeshan in his welcome address said, "Super 30 is a flagship CSR initiative of ONGC and is most sought after.

PR Mili, President All India SC ST Employees Welfare Association urged the successful students not to forget their roots and share their riches and experiences with the underprivileged in their respective places. SDC, Nazira and ED- CSRL also spoke on the occasion.

12 students belong to Assam and three to Manipur. Going by the trend of the past allotments of seats, these students would be placed in IITs, NITs and other premiere engineering colleges of the country.

These students belong to the sixth batch of ONGC Super 30 - an educational initiative under CSR. They were selected for free residential coaching after conducting an entrance test open to all Northeast students.

Since its inception in 2014, total 124 students secured engineering admissions. Of them 35 students' secured IIT admissions and 89 students got admissions in NITs and other reputed engineering institutions of the country.

Till date 7 batches were given coaching and the coaching for 8th batch has commenced. ONGC Super 30 is a residential Coaching Programme at Sivasagar instituted in 2014 in association with Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL), New Delhi. Under this ONGC's CSR initiative 30 academically brilliant students from economically underprivileged families are selected every year and provided 11 months free residential coaching for IIT-JEE and other Engineering Entrance Examinations.
