Silchar: People of Assam are in safe hands as they have a Chief Minister with steel-like strong backbone, stated film star Mithun Chakraborty. The Dada Saheb Phalke award winner actor on Friday night enthralled the audience at Rajib Bhawan here in Silchar where he was the chief guest of the ‘Barak Samskritik Mahotsab’ organized by the ABVP. Chakraborty handed over certificates to the winners of various categories. Earlier speaking to this correspondent, Chakraborty praised Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his bold step against the illegal infiltration. The iconic star, who left Trinamool Congress to join the BJP, termed Sarma as a Chief Minister with strong resolute which his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee miserably lacked. “TMC is the most corrupt political party in the entire world” maintaining this Chakraborty admitted that joining the West Bengal ruling party was the most blunder decision he had ever taken in his life.
Referring to a recent statement of Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding the non-cooperation from the West Bengal government in combating the illegal infiltration, Mithun Chakraborty said, the main source of the TMC in retaining power was shameless appeasement of the minorities. Chakraborty said, if free and fair election is held in the West Bengal, the BJP would definitely dethrone the TMC government. “I have personally written to the Home Minister to conduct elections in the West Bengal under army vigilance. No state police should be allowed during the polling,” Chakraborty said. Referring to the recent violence in Murshidabad following the newly adopted Waqf Act, Chakraborty said, it was a shame for the West Bengal that Indians had to take shelter in refugee camps in their own homeland and had to eat khichdi. Quizzed that Mamata Banerjee had blamed the Union Home Minister for inciting violence in Murshidabad as the BSF were kept inactive, Chakraborty said, if for argument’s sake we admit that the BSF had failed, but what did the state police do to control the unruly mob.
Chakraborty made it clear that he would not be seen in the electoral battle in 2026, but he would definitely continue campaigning for the BJP. “One thing is clear, the BJP has succeeded in winning the faith and trust of all the Sanatanis in the West Bengal,” a confident Mithun Chakraborty claimed.
